Escape From San Francisco

Our last day in this wonderful city was true to the theme of our entire trip: do as much as possible in the least amount of time possible. 

Our hotel would not extend our checkout time beyond 1:00. We had to drive in rush hour traffic to make it to AT&T park in time to tour the Giants stadium from 10:30-12ish. The hotel was just under an hour away. This should make for an interesting start to the day. 

We were thrilled to make good time and wanted to make sure we got some sourdough bread before we left the city. We put Boudin in our GPS since they are known as having some of the best bread in the city. Score! They were only 5 minutes away and we had almost an extra 30 min. We drove towards the bakery and our GPS suddenly rerouted us. Now, it was 11 minutes away. OK, we can still make it. We got there and found a parking lot right across the street. We started driving up and the lot was PACKED!!! We got a parking spot on the 7th floor, the roof and couldn't see the elevator from where we were so we raced down the stairs. We make it down the 7 flights and raced across the street to the bakery. We knew we were now cutting it close on time, but we were determined. We got our loaf of bread and ran back to the car wondering what we so desperately needed this loaf of bread for???

After picking up the sourdough bread, we arrived at AT&T park 15 minutes before the 10:30 am tour. We were told that only one spot was available. Kim explained that we drove an hour just for this tour and asked to speak to the manager. Once Kim said the magic words, "We have Go Cards", the manager immediately let us know that they had to honor the Go cards and we were issued our tour tickets. 

The tour was quite thorough. We got to see the press rooms, the locker rooms, the dugouts, and even got to go on the field all while learning random facts about the building of the stadium (the entire thing is made of concrete and cost less than half of the new Yankee stadium) and the San Francisco Giants.

The Go cards really made the trip for us. They encouraged us to try so many things we wouldn't have otherwise, all in the interest of getting the most value out of the cards as possible. I can say for everything we did, the go cards were an incredible deal and allowed us to experience San Francisco in so many ways.

We both agreed we had done everything we wanted to and more. We didn't mean to spend a week in California but the lifetime of memories it provided was well worth the extra few days. Now, on the road again!
